I believe in teaching practical subjects and skills for every day life

Hi, I’m Nabiha

I am an educator who focuses on critical thinking for children and teenagers because they will enter a world where they will be competing with AI in many fields. What they will need to navigate in the fourth industrial revolution are not traditional educational exam based subjects, but critical thought as well as the ability to navigate a rapidly changing world.

In Alvin Toffler’s words:
“The illiterate of the 21st century will not be those who cannot read and write, but those who cannot learn, unlearn, and relearn.”

I have a certificate in Philosophy for Children and P.E.A.C.E. from University of Naples Federico II.

Philosophy for Children, Pakistan

Many years ago, I started Philosophy for Children, Pakistan summer schools and although I had already known children were natural born philosophers, I was amazed by the level of thought and how quickly children can grasp philosophical concepts adults struggle with.

This is something I experienced growing up with a grandmother who was the daughter of a philosopher, MM Sharif, who founded the Pakistan Philosophy Society. While I was privileged to be allowed to question, many children in our society are not.

Education & Experience

United World College Scholar

I was a United World College scholar and graduated from The United World College of the Atlantic, Wales in 2000. Coming from a traditional schooling system in Pakistan, where critical thought and philosophical discussions were not encouraged, it was a challenging and rewarding experience.

The International Baccalaureate wasn’t standardised at the time and I soon realised that a subject like Theory of Knowledge, which taught critical thinking and some philosophy, was what made university and other life skills easier.

Masters

I then did a degree in Women’s Studies (which is now known as Gender Studies) from the University of York in Toronto, Canada.

After returning to Pakistan, I started working in the education sector. I did my Masters from the University of Sussex in Creative and Critical Writing in 2009.

Teaching

Since 2005, I have worked at many schools and universities such as NCA, LUMS and taught critical thinking and other subjects at Lahore Grammar School, 55 Main for a decade.
