Frequently Asked Questions

What kind of teacher trainings do you offer?

I offer trainings in critical thinking, Bloom’s taxonomy and how to apply it regardless of the subject. I say trainings because one session is a good way to become acquainted with the topic but it takes more than one to be able to create excellent lesson plans. It also requires good critical thinking skills.

Critical thinking for educators is a specific programme where they learn the following reasoning components in interactive sessions:

  • Bloom’s Taxonomy
  • Argumentation and persuasion
  • Logic and logical fallacies
  • Cognitive biases
  • The Socratic method

How does critical thinking benefit educators?

As a former teacher myself, I have seen most teachers struggle with critical thinking skills specifically with incorporating higher level thinking skills in their lesson plans. I’ve trained teachers in critical thinking and logic as well as Bloom’s taxonomy.

When educators are strong thinkers, their work becomes easier, such as planning lessons, being able to improvise in class on the spot using said skills, and this benefits their students immensely.

Critical thinking is not a skill that was taught to our current generation of teachers. They might have been introduced to it in university. However, it is becoming an essential part of many subjects and having the skills to plan lessons and incorporate critical thinking skills in the classroom benefits both students and teachers. This is why it is important to learn this skill.

Do you do these trainings individually or in batches?

I’m assuming every educator would know that we learn better with peers so I would prefer to do these with small groups. That would also help keep charges lower than if anyone would like to do individual sessions which is also an option.

I want to be trained in Philosophy for Children. Is that possible?

Yes! However, this training is a long term commitment because it requires doing an internship with me so that you can witness how such classes are taught. Candidates for this training necessarily need to have strong critical thinking skills as well as prior knowledge of philosophy. Do note that this training requires a lot of reading and has assignments that must be submitted on time. Priority for these courses will be given to prior students or teachers I’ve trained before.

Where do you host your sessions?

I can host my sessions online since I don’t have a particular location I use. However, these can be hosted in any school or other spaces depending on the size of the group.

I’m not sure which form I should fill out.

Please fill out the form “Teacher Trainings for Individuals” if you are an individual or a group of teachers that are not being funded by your school. Please fill out this form if you are interested in teaching and would like to be trained before starting a job as a teacher.

If you are a school admin or head of department that will be funding the teacher training, then please fill out the form “Teacher Trainings for Schools”.
